Work experience
We have a variety of different steps into work, ranging from NHS Cadets, Work Experience, Prince’s Trust and Step Into Work Programs with Joined up Careers Derbyshire.
Work Experience helps people prepare for professional study and their future career. It provides insight of what the job is really like, understanding of some of the demands and finding out if it is suited to them. It gives the opportunity to develop and demonstrate the values, attitudes and behaviours necessary to work in the NHS.
More information can be found under the relevant sections and also on Joined Up Careers Derbyshire Website.
This is amazing! We need your support to offer these types of opportunities. It helps develop the future workforce and creates further relationships with our local communities. It can also help to develop and engage your staff.
For more information, you can view our Work Experience spotlight PowerPoint presentation here.
If you want to find out a bit more, you can read the Trust policy which can be found on the intranet.

The Prince's Trust
The Prince’s Trust is an action-orientated charity, supporting young people particularly those who have been marginalised or are disengaged, to get into employment; education; or training, helping to build both confidence and skills.
One of the programs the Prince’s Trust offers is a placement with partnership employers within the Health and Social Care, designed to develop practical skills and knowledge to secure a job.
Our offer is for anyone who is aged 18-30, not in education, training or employment.
DCHS are offering a variety roles on a 4 week placement with the aim to give some insight and work experience.
This programme has the opportunity to change lives. The feedback we have from our previous participates has been amazing and all of them have mentioned how their confidence and self believe have grown.
See the attached Power Point for information about our March 2022 programme.

NHS ambassador
This is fantastic news. We love that you love what you do, and you will be the best person to inspire others! There are a variety of things you can support with, from telling us your career stories, which we can publish on our Intranet, to creating a ‘day in the life of video’. Or you can attend a school or recruitment fair and have a chat about what you do with potential applicants. Don’t worry if you are shy, we will work with your strengths.
We won’t need lots of your time, a minimum of 1 hour per year can make a valuable contribution to growing our workforce. You would become one of our NHS Ambassadors.
The Wider workforce team is small so are unable to support every event we are asked to attend but with the support of NHS Ambassadors we will be able to support more people who are at the point of making career choices and job decisions by guiding them through the wide variety of roles within the NHS. You can find out more under the Ambassador section. Find more information from this PowerPoint presentation.
