Farewell message to Tim Kilmartin
Tim Kilmartin, our Lead Podiatric Surgeon Consultant is leaving Ilkeston hospital after 28 years on 13th December 2022!
Tim has worked in the NHS for 37 years and in that time has become a national leader in the development of Podiatric surgery as a profession and in developing training for Podiatric surgeons
Tim has had many Nationally and Internationally publicised research papers / studies and is well known for presentations at National and International conferences.
His interest in research has continued throughout his career with now over 70 published articles on foot surgery and the treatment of various foot conditions.
He has performed over 15,000 foot operations.
Elected the first Dean of the Faculty of Podiatric Surgery of the College of Podiatrists in 1998, Tim has always been involved in the educational and professional development of podiatric surgery. He has also served on the Specialty Advisory Board in Podiatric Surgery for the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. He is the external examiner to the Masters degree in the theory of Podiatric Surgery at Glasgow and Edinburgh University and is an Examiner for the Fellowship in Podiatric Surgery.
Tim is currently a visiting lecturer to Ulster and Galway University Schools of Podiatry providing the Podiatric Surgery and local anaesthetic modules.
His patients and colleagues alike will miss him greatly
