Car Parking at Chesterfield Royal Hospital
As you know, following engagement with colleagues and stakeholders, the Trust is reintroducing car parking charges. Thank you for the continued patience and co-operation you have shown whilst we work through this update.
We are now in the process of installing the new car park management systems and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras on our site.
Once this system is in place, we will be rolling out an implementation plan for car parking charges from September and October, with visitor charging being introduced Monday, 26 September, followed by colleague charging from Monday, 31 October.
What do you need to do now?
- To access the dedicated staff car parks and the reduced colleague parking tariffs you will have to have pre-registered your vehicle(s).
- As part of the registration process, you will need to know your ESR payroll assignment number. Please see the below information on how to find out your ESR payroll assignment number. Pay Services and the HR department will not be able to provide your ESR assignment number for you.
- ALL colleagues will need to register their vehicle(s) – even if they are eligible for free parking – to enable access to the car park and to ensure they do not receive any car parking fines.
How to register your vehicle(s)
The vehicle registration process is now open for colleagues to submit their registration number(s). Please follow the step-by-step detailed guide, which can be found here. A brief outline of the process can be found below:
- Step one: Please ensure you know your ESR payroll assignment number. You will also need your car details and registration number.
- Step two: Visit the Nexus Platform (https://nexusplatform.co.uk/) to register your vehicle(s).
- Step three: Using the detailed guide, complete the registration process. Please use your NHS email address in the first instance. If you do not have an NHS email address, you may use a personal email.
Please note: you will need to register a mobile telephone number to receive a ‘one-time passcode’ and you will be required to verify your account before registering a vehicle. This is clearly outlined in the attached guide. Please ensure you have mobile phone signal to receive this one-time passcode.
- Step four: Once your account is verified, you can continue to submit your application for registering your vehicle(s).
- Please register your vehicle before 5pm, Friday, 30 September 2022 to have access to the colleague car parks from Monday, 31 October. We require several weeks for checking and administrative work to ensure colleagues have correct access to the car parks. Thank you for your co-operation.
What else do you need to know?
We have done our best to listen to views and feedback, with the cost of parking being reduced from pre-Covid rates and being based on an individual’s Agenda for Change/DSFS banding/grade.
Our lower paid colleagues, those at AFC Band 1 and 2 and equivalent DSFS Grade A, will not have to pay anything.
Blue badge holders and those on night shifts will also be able to park for free. Partner organisations with staff parking on the Chesterfield Royal Hospital site will also be subject to charges and will be eligible to use staff car parks. It is therefore necessary for them to register their vehicle(s) in the same way as above.
Key dates
- Monday, 26 September – The new car park configuration will take place. Car Parks 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 (Macmillan Centre) and 10 will be visitor car parks from this day. Visitor car parking charges will be implemented. All other car parks will be exclusive for colleagues.
- Friday, 30 September – Colleagues’ vehicles to be registered via the Nexus Platform by 5pm.
- Monday, 31 October – Colleague car parking rates will commence.
How do you find your ESR payroll assignment number?
- Your ESR payroll assignment number can be found on your online payslip. In most cases is an eight-digit number starting with a 2 or a 3. Please do not use your pre-April 2021 number as this will not be recognised by the system.
- If you have more than one job you will have two different numbers, one of them ending in an additional two digits (see examples): 23456789, 23456789-24.
- Colleagues with multiple roles should use the assignment number that they work the most hours in.
If you have not yet accessed your online payslip or you don’t know how to:
You can email the ESR enquiries team at esrenquiries@nhs.net or via telephone on 01246 513177 or 01246 513909.
- Please ensure that you have an active NHS email account as this is required to activate your ESR account.
- If you haven’t got an active NHS email, or you’re not sure if you have one, please contact your line manager. They will need to make a request to the IT Service Desk on your behalf.
I’m not employed by the NHS – how do I register my vehicle(s)?
If you do not have an NHS email address, your registration process will differ slightly to the attached guide and you will be asked to enter an 'Approver' email address, which is: crhft.carparks@nhs.net
Once entered you will be able to continue the registration process as outlined in the attached guide.
