International Pharmacy Technicians Day - 18 October
The last few years has highlighted the dedication of the whole DCHS pharmacy and medicines management team who have worked together and supported each other, creatively adapting the way they work to ensure the medicines management and pharmacy services are maintained and patients receive uninterrupted and safe access to the medications they require.
Kate Needham, Chief Pharmacist DCHS said ‘The work undertaken by Pharmacy Technicians (and Pharmacy Assistants) is essential to the delivery of the pharmacy services across the Community Hospitals, community services and wider JUCD system. Pharmacy would not be able to function without their expertise, talent, knowledge, and never-ending attention to detail, and drive to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of services for our patients. We are lucky in DCHS to have a fantastic team of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants supporting, delivering, and leading work. I wish them all a very Happy International Pharmacy Technicians Day and say a massive thank you to each one of them for all they do’.
The Pharmacy Technician team also wanted to use International Pharmacy Technicians Day to give a big thank you to the Pharmacy Assistants whose continuous support is integral to so many aspects of the work undertaken by the pharmacy team.
This year nationally pharmacy technicians were asked to reflect on: “what the best thing about a pharmacy technician is”
The Technician team all support the following statement:
Working with an amazing group of Technicians who are all supportive towards each other and who always have the patient’s best interest at the forefront of everything that we do.
