BBC Countryfile calls into clinic!
Our rural health team opened their door to BBC TV Countryfile for filming in the drop-in clinic at Bakewell Agricultural Centre.
Thanks to rural health nurse Karen Allen and physio Joel Pullen, our clinical stars in front of the camera, pictured here with Countryfile presenter Adam Henson.
The rural health clinic, based in a side room off the main livestock auction at Bakewell Agricultural Centre, has been providing a first point of contact for the health needs of the farming community for nearly 20 years.
Bob Bacon, aged 95, of Hallcliffe Farm, Wadshelf, near Chesterfield, is one of the farmers who has valued the service the clinic offers for many years and who joined Karen and Joel in the filming.
TV Countryfile presenters Adam Henson and Charlotte Smith were in Bakewell to put the spotlight on the role of the agricultural centre as a community hub, in addition to its primary role as a livestock market. The trailblazing rural health service, provided by Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust, offers health checks on a drop-in basis to members of the farming community who might otherwise find it difficult to seek the healthcare they need.
The episode, filmed at Bakewell Agricultural Centre, is due to be broadcast on BBC One at 6pm on Sunday 19 February.
